I bought the version with Ryzen 5500U, in general it is a good computer for the price. However, I have never seen a keyboard with worse paint quality, I have several keys with light holes where the text was. In less than a year, it is unacceptable and impossible to sell to someone else.

Have the VivoBook X712JA_X712JA 1TB SSD 16GB Ram Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1065G7 CPU @ 1.30GHz, 1498 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s) Overall good choice if you don't want a touch screen. The keys don't have back lighting and be hard to see at times (glad I can type). The Lettering on the keys are wearing off. Beyond that, this was worth buying at the sales price.

No ethernet... that is enough to not even be in consideration.

This is yet another laptop from Asus that does not have a heat-sink connected to the fan. I see a heat-pipe ending beside the fan but no heat-sink connected to the fan itself. I'd gladly pay a little more for a complete cooling system. Asus needs to get their cost-quality balance right.

This is an interesting thermal system... but uh, I guess it works better than the Macbook Air?

as the biggest 17-incher fan in the world i should say i don't think the chosen competition is accurate. closest competitors from the same price range to this model(not particular but 17 inch vivobooks) are -Dell inspiron 3793 -Lenovo IdeaPad L340 17(WITH ips screen) -HP 17-ca1000 all thee has 300+nit 60/90 srgb/adobe screen. vivobook is the lightest and with some metal with the cost of underwhelming screen all four in ~700 price range

Likewise, while I really really like this Asus Vivobook F705QA, I wish it would come with a 120GB SSD rather than the slow 1TB HDD. :( I mean, it has everything I'm looking for, except that. Unfortunately, this laptop is hard to upgrade or have the HDD swapped out. :( The next model is twice as expensive, has the decent MX150 (coz I don't want the battery-zapping GTX1050 coz I don't game) but only limited to 8GB RAM. :( Don't understand why there isn't a 16GB MX150 option for mainstream users like us who don't game. I open tonnes of Chrome tabs and needs long battery life, but no good options are offered for the ASUS Vivobook 17 incher. :(
